Do You Know How Much Electricity Is Used To Charge An Electric Scooter?

After the revolution in the automobile sector in India, you can find attractive electric vehicles all around you in the city. Advancements in the technology of batteries and safety measures have made electric scooters more popular than combustion engines. The popularity leads big players to innovate and invest in the vast domain of manufacturing and launching e-vehicles. This innovation has become a perfect sustainable mobility solution for this generation.

However, buyers are still in dilemma with the lucrative offers provided by the established vehicles and the efficiency of electric vehicles. So, the question arises are these e-vehicles sustainable? Are they efficient in terms of cost saving? How much cost to charge an e-vehicle? How much we can save compared to combustion engines?

To comprehend the concept and practically answer all questions, let’s understand how much electricity is used to charge an electric scooter.

The method of calculating costs to charge an electric scooter:

The electricity consumption of charging an electric scooter can vary depending on several factors, including the battery capacity of the scooter, the state of charge of the battery when charging starts, the efficiency of the charging system, and the electricity rate in the particular region.

To calculate the electricity usage, we need to know the battery capacity of the scooter in kilowatt-hours (kWh). This information is typically provided by the scooter manufacturer. Let's assume the battery capacity is 2 kWh.

When you charge the electric scooter, not all the electricity you consume goes into the battery due to energy losses during the charging process. Charging efficiency can vary, but let's assume an efficiency of 90%. This means that you'll need to consume 2 kWh / 0.9 = 2.22 kWh of electricity to charge the scooter.

To determine the total cost of charging the electric scooter, you would multiply the electricity consumed (2.22 kWh) by the electricity rate in your area. The electricity rate is usually measured in Rs per kilowatt-hour (kWh). For example, if the electricity rate is Rs 3.34 /kWh (varies as per state from Rs 3 to Rs 10), then the cost of charging the electric scooter would be 2.22 kWh * Rs 3.34/kWh = 7.4148Rs.

The calculation is approximate and established for example purposes. It may vary depending on the specific circumstances and electricity rates in the particular location.

Significantly, the battery quality also impacts the efficiency. It is always recommended to use the branded and quality battery in e-vehicles like Strikeco. Hereby, sharing the details of strikeco batteries and unit consumption report.

The above figure indicates the efficiency of the Strikeco batteries and at the same time, it reflects the unit of electricity consumed. In Madhya Pradesh, the unit consumed till 30 units are Rs 3.45rs per unit and varies as per the consumed unit. Thus, we can multiply the unit consumed with per unit charges and can easily estimate the amount of electricity used to charge your electric two-wheeler. The recently launched RTO approved CRESTA 72V38AH model of Strikeco costs only Rs 35/- and the cost to run one Km is only Rs 0.42 Paise.

The above-mentioned figures are supporting the fact that electric scooters are more efficient than combustion engines. Strikco vehicles along with the strikeco batteries and chargers are more efficient in terms of cost and quality.
